I am sorry for my late blogpost, I was supposed to write one on Thursday (as I normally do) but there aren´t enough hours during the day, hehe.
We had a film crew here on Thursday, which meant all hands on deck. Hehe, well. I did lunch and dinner for everyone, so that stole some time away. Otherwise, everything is fine. I´m filming a new Youtube video tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it. I´m also thinking of doing a 5-minute-Friday video as well, just me talking about a specific topic and wishing you all a good weekend. Well, I´ll see how I get on.
I´m currently watching life after death by a recommendation from one of you guys. I am very intrigued and I can´t wait to watch another episode tonight. If you already seen the series, what do you think? I´m halfway and I can´t stop watching.
I´ve had a wonderful and very relaxed start to the weekend. Well, if relaxing means having a tidy floral studio aaand bedroom, then yes. Heh. I had a very productive day yesterday, and I felt good. Happy! I actually spent the whole evening by myself, just recharging. I did feel a little bit guilty for not joining the others, but I really needed a little timeout. If youré a introvert like me, you will understand I´m sure.
Today have been good as well. I started of with some research and studies for work (meaning watching a lot´s of how-to video´s on various subjects). Love doing this, especially if it can make me work better. Then I actually did a sweaty workout, which felt nice.
The evening is not set in stone yet, but I think I´m going to watch a movie with Stephanie and Philip. Have a lovely evening everyone.
Oh, by the way. Make sure to follow me on Instagram, at @mariewiik1 to see more updates on my everyday life.
I´ve been sorting out my studio a little today, well it actually took me more time then planned but I´m happy with the changes. Sometimes you just need to change things up, especially if you feel a little bit stuck mentally.
I must be honest and say that I don´t have much to share. I haven´t been in a healthy mental space latley, but I am fine. I think it´s just January and too much work and not that much progress, which has taken a toll on me. Sometimes It´s just hard and thats okay. However, I´m getting through and I´m actually positive, It´s just a little challenging to find motivation, but I know it will wear off soon enough.
Anyways, It´s almost the weekend and I´m planning on being kind to myself. I´m hoping to do some running if the weather is ok, mabey have a warm bath and I´m definitely going to spend a few hours watching Netflix in bed.
Although I´ts covid times, I hope you have a lovely weekend x
How are you? I´ve just had the most loveliest day, and I am so happy. I´m currently in Normandie at Chateau Gonneville sur Honfleur visiting Anna and Philip. They have the most beautiful little Chateau which I´m completley in love with. I´ve been making florals and shooting content all day and we just finished a lovely dinner.
a few photos from today
I´ve been wanting to come here for ages and I´m so greatful I finally did. Being here and meeting Anna and Philip + there two daughters have been incredibly heartwarming as well as refreshing. I hope to be back again soon!
Dinner was delish, we had baked cammenbert with rosmary and honey as a starter. For dinner we had roast beef (not for me of course), baked carrots and parsnips with a yummy cabbage salad. Dessert was pure blizz, smooth chocolade mousse. Felt so treated!
Right, I´m off to bed now. I´m shooting more content tomorrow before we make our way back to Lalande.
I can´t beleive it´s time for another blogpost, time goes by so quickly, or am I the only one? Heh. Anyways, here are a few photos from Instagram stories. The picture above is from New Years Eve, I really liked the dress I wore. Should wear green more often.
It´s been raining all day so I´ve kept indoors most of the day. I´ve been writing contracts and I hope to finish them as soon as possible since I have to send them off to a few clients already. Yay! It´s really nice to see things progress. Otherwise we´re doing a “Lalande cook-off” competition this weekend!! I love tv-show´s like “come and dine with me” and I thought it would be fun to do something different for a change. So this weekend will be a culinary experience (hopefully, hehe..)
Lalande the other day, a typical day in January
I recived my approval for a pre-settlement status in the Uk today, which made me really happy. I do miss England and I look forward to being settled there again. Please don´t get me wrong, I adore living here at Lalande, but I want to settle down a little bit more then I have done for the last few years. I´v been wanting to get a velvet sofa for years now, but I´ve never stayed long enough in one place to do so. So, let´s hope this year will be the time for the velvet sofa.
Hi lovelies. I have re-arranged my studio and taken down the Christmas decorations, well not all of it (big house you know, hehe). I like to start the new year feeling refreshed and ready.
I´ve been feeling very peaceful and happy this week, especially today. I´ve had a lot of p&q after our friends left Lalande (peace and quiet), which may have something to do with it. I love my own company way too much, hehe. This January will be pretty quiet (but busy), I´m dedicated to get a lot of essential work done, like planning the year, producing content for my website and writing contracts for my floral design services. Lot´s to do but I´m enjoying it, which makes me feel proud of myself.
Otherwise I am getting back to my normal and healthy habits again, which means I´ve given up on eating up all the temptations in this house, there is just too much!!. I´m going to try to hid them instead and hope for the best, hah.
We had a lovely party last night, which I feel incredibly blessed about. Living in a community of people has had its perks during this pandemic. I served cocktails from the cocktail corner, we did whiskey sour, cucumber g&t´s and an interesting espresso martini. There was canapes, turkey for the normal people and veggies for me. Lot´s of Champagne too, which we all felt today. Hah. We played a murder and mystery game during dinner (I was the killer!), and we celebrated the New Year with lots of cheers and hugs. For a moment, life seemed almost normal.
Right, It´s 01.57am and the New Year awaits, well, bedtime first though. Oh, and I´m very pleased to tell you that I´ve taken down all the Christmas decorations in my studio. Off it goes, out with the old and in with the new. Time for a new chapter!
I wish you all a magical New Year, may it bring us all what we want and long for. My heart goes out to each and one of you.
Just me popping in on Christmas Eve, or what we call “Juleaften” in Norway. It´s been a busy but good day. I´ve made table garlands for tomorrow´s Christmas dinner and I´ve just finished. We´re having a cocktail party tonight with canapes and I´ve already sampled the vegetarian sushi (It was amazing!!)
All I want to do is to snuggle up in bed and watch something nostalgic on Netflix, but I´m going to enjoy the party and be greatful for where I am. I´ll be honest and say that I´ve been a little sad today. Not being with my family has been a little hard this year, but I´m sure I´ll see them before I know it.
Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
Time went by so quickly today, I´ve been writing Christmas cards and making garlands for the adventcalendar + I cooked dinner. I feel like I´ve done a lot today, but not necessarily what I wanted to achieve. Hah. I am sure a few of you can relate? Especially during these days.
from earlier today. I prefer to make garlands from scratch (the proper floristry way hehe), but since Stephanie already have plastic ones with lights on, I´ve freshed up these ones by attaching real greenery to them. Philip brought yummy Christmas tea.
we had a little party last night celebrating Stephanies 100K, which was great fun. I feel so lucky to live in a community here at Lalande where we can still dress up for a party and laugh together. I borrowed this beautiful dress from Stephanie. Love her wardrobe
Hope youré all well? The house is slowly changing these days, some are leaving while others are arriving. Looking forward to celebrating Christmas here and to also see old Lalanders again. We´re doing Secret Santa!!
Hello everyone! How are you?? I hope you didn´t think I had forgotten about you? hehe. I´ve just been soo busy today. I have a few deadlines and I decided to spend the whole day writing Christmas cards (for my members at With Marie) + my family and friends, just to get it all out and away. I still have a few cards more to write but I´m waiting for more to arrive in the post. The weekend will be pretty fun but full on. Tomorrow, I´ll be in the studio creating content and filming for a new how-to video. I´m doing some pretty florals in softer tones, if it dosent rain I´ll go for a forage too. Saturday is Sankta Lucia preperation day. So, I´m going to bake, yes me (SEND HELP), Sankta Lucia buns for Sunday. Yaay.! All good fun. Sunday will be a editing day, and if I can get around to making a garland, I´ll do that too. SO yeah, lots to do.
me out in the Chateau woods foraging for winter greens for the big wreath. The sunlight was so lovely
I picked up flowers on Tuesday and we went to Bernards shop to look for some pressies. I found a pretty mirror for my bedroom
the big Christmas wreath for the gate! It was so fun and actually very quick to make. I dried orange sliced and found zinnamon sticks from the kitchen. I ´ve been gifted some red berries and pine cones, so I used those too. I ended up using tre types of winter greens, American silver fir,Eastern white pine and European Larch.
Right, I have some more work to do before I have a date with Philip and Stephanie to watch the Crown. Episode 3 next, so excited!!
I must say, I like these scheduled days where I know what I´m doing, it gives me so much peace of mind. So, what´s happening? I burned my hand earlier by trying to microwave my oat milk. There is that. Otherwise, everything is pretty peaceful. My hair is growing longer, which pleases me greatly. I´ve been wanting my long and thick hair back for years, now it´s finally growing.!! Although, it may have something to do with the B12 I´m taking (as well as not being silly and cutting it myself).
Things are looking much better in the studio these days, it´s so lovely how moving some furniture around can change the atmosphere in a room. I think it´s so important to feel comfortable and inspired by your surroundings and what better time to make that happened then right now?
This week will be peaceful but fun (It´s so quiet here, but there will be friends coming for Christmas so I´m enjoying this semi quiet time).. I´m doing some more filming for my IGTV-videos for with marie, then I´m filming another video with Stephanie for her advent calendar vlog. I think we´re also having some parties, so all in all, a good few days coming up. Oh, and Cheryl have sent me the first draft of my website, I´m going to review it shortly so that we can get on with the first alterations. So exciting.
Hello lovelies! It´s time for a new blog post. If you follow me on Instagram (mariewiik1), you will know that I have decided to get back to blogging again. Yay!.. So, every Thursday I´ll write a blog post. I hope to write more in the future, but I´ll start easy and see how I go.
Anyway, how are you? Some people say that blogging belongs to the past, but I must disagree. I really love reading blogs and I have a few favourites that I visit almost every day. Mabey it´s a generation thing. I really like following other people´s life´s and getting a special insight in what they are up to and what their life is like. I´ve been following a few Scandinavian bloggers for almost 10 years and some of us are at the same age and I really like that.
Well, enough about that. I´m currently sitting in my studio and I look like an eskimo. I have blankets, scarfs and a warm hat on. The oil heater is on and I´ve lit a scented candle. I really love my studio space and I don´t mind the cold. I feel so free and peaceful here. I can´t believe I´ve been at Lalande for 4 months already. Time goes by so fast.
Workwise, everything is going in the right direction, slowly but steady. I´m constantly learning new skills while I continue to create florals, videos and taking photos. Everything I earn goes back to investing in equipment or flowers. There is hardly any money for my personal life, but hay, we´re in a lockdown, hehe. Becoming self-employed this year have been such an emotional rollercoaster but I wouldn´t want it any other way. I am so happy I quit my job and came to France.
Right, I´m going to film and upload another video for @withmariewiik and I´m also cooking tonight. I think I´m making chili or pita. Not sure yet. Anyho, have a lovely weekend xx
Ps: If youré new to my blog and Instagram and you have some questions, check out my previous Q&A´s on my Instagram. I´ve answered a lot of questions there. Link here
Hello everyone! Long-time no see. I haven’t been on my blog for a little while and I am so sorry! It´s been a busy few months and I had to put my blog aside for a little while. Luckily, I feel much freer now that I have deleted Facebook. OH MY. What a blessed feeling to be free from the world of Facebook. Haha! For those of you who don´t know why I deleted it, I deleted Facebook because I had too many platforms to keep up with. Since social media is now part of my job, I needed to be smarter about where I spend my time, and I also want to give out more quality rather than quantity. Anyhow, this is about the Goddess workshop. I get so many questions about the Goddess workshop and what it is, and I thought I would just make a blog post about it.
First thing first, the Goddess workshop was created last year after Christmas here at Lalande. It was the beginning of 2019 and I thought we all could do with a little self-esteem boost. Some of us were a little bit lost and heartbroken, some of us needed a little push, and some (me) was in need of some direction. So, I thought it would be nice to do some exercises to boost our self-esteem and to share our inner thoughts. Stephanie and I had been watching every Marvel movie out there because we needed some inspiration for the upcoming Easter Party which had a super villain/superhero theme. That’s were the Goddess name came in and that’s how we ended up calling it the Goddess workshop! Tadaa!
We just did a Goddess workshop with the girls in Dordogne, which was a fantastic experience. Since Stephanie couldn´t join us there, we are now currently doing another one at Lalande. We finished the two first session last night (around 3 am), and we are doing the last two sessions later this week. I feel so upbeat and energized by doing these workshops and I highly recommend anyone who is interested to give it ago. Since this is my 3rd time organising and leading the workshop I have upgraded the worksheets a little.
The Goddess workshop recipe:
What you will need:
· A group of friends or family. Doing these worksheets can be a little bit tricky with random strangers. Be around 4-8 people to get that nice balance. It’s also good to have variety of different people into the workshop. Invite your neighbour, cousin, colleague or auntie!
· Print out the worksheets (I´ll link them down below), use clipboards if you have
· Pens!! (also, make sure to tell everyone to write clearly, hehe.)
· Clear your schedule, each session will take anything between 1-2,5 hours. There are 4 sessions in total. You can do the whole session in one day (takes around 6-7 hours), or 2 session per day. I recommend doing it over a course of days.
· Find a relaxing and private space to be in. We are doing our sessions in the winter salon at Lalande. It´s a cosy and warm room with an open fire. We had candles and brought drinks and snacks. Yesterday, I brought lavender oil and passed it around for everyone to sniff and put on.
· Background music, make sure to play something soothing for the soul. Last night we played relaxing piano with rain sounds on Spotify.
· Wear something you feel great in but also comfortable with. You feel the way you look.
The first worksheet starts off with naming the things you like, appreciate and love about yourself! After 4-5 minuets, pass your worksheet to the left so that everyone gets to add things that they like, love and appreciate about you. When everyone has written something on everyone’s worksheet, take each a turn and read your own worksheet out loud.
The second worksheet is completley new this year and I LOVED it. We all spent a few minuets finishing every scentence, then we read the same scentence each in turn. This took a while, but it was so lovely to hear what everyone had written and the reason behind it.
Yes, this session is about celebrating life and your achievements so far. It´s so easy to focus on the negative rather than the positive and this worksheet will hopefully help you shift your focus and make you feel proud and great about your past. Spend some time filling your worksheet out. When you’re finished take turn to read out loud and talk about what you´ve written. Let the others ask questions if needed.
After some sessions of sharing thoughts, feelings and life experiences it´s finally time to set out goals for yourself. Fill out the worksheet, read it out loud and talk about it. Give each other input and help find strategies to achieve the goals.
When the workshop is finished
Make sure to thank each other for dedicating their time to the workshop. Save your worksheets for a rainy day so that you can look at them when you need a little reminder. Invite everyone back for a new Goddess workshop next year! Enjoy xx
Here is a sneak peek of my How I do my florals video for this week. It´s out now and I guess by now you know where you can find it. I hope you find some inspiration just by watching this little video. I have decided to start creating a few more handpicked videos just for Youtube. I love going out in nature and looking for beautiful things to pick. I can’t wait to bring you with me next time I go. So, stay tuned. There are videos coming up on Youtube as well.
Anyhow. I´m off to the post office to post some letters now. I might also go and get a takeaway coffee, mabey walk around Bury to see if I can find some inspiration. I´m going to force my butt to go out running this evening too. Wish me good luck. Hehe.
I´m alive! Hehe. How are you? I´m about to start making my next how I do my florals video. I am in love with this week’s flowers and I can’t wait to start! I´m working with pink peonies, white snapdragons and a soft pinkish Lisianthus. A very feminine bunch. I also handpicked a lot of foliage yesterday so I´m feeling pretty good about this one.
Anyhow. I have decided to finally start my Youtube journey. I think it is the way to go. I also feel the need to help people, to inspire others. Not just with flowers. I feel very passionately about self-care and mental health and I hope to somehow add that into the mix too. I have no proper strategy for Youtube yet, but I know I have plenty of ideas and I´m already working on my first “proper” youtube video. I´m actually loving the process of finding ideas, doing the research and scripting the video. It´s creative and I love that.
My question to you is, is there anything you would like to see on my Youtube channel? Anything at all?
All the thank you letters for my Patreons are now sent off. It was so heartwarming to write to them and see them sent off. Without my Patreon´s I wouldn´t have allowed myself to spend the extra money on flowers every week, especially during these times. Because of them, I´m able to be creative and inspire a lot of people with the florals I make. I get a lot of messages from people who tell me how inspired they are by my pictures and stories. They send me pictures of what they pick in their gardens but also of their finished arrangements. I absolutely love that!
Oh, and please don´t feel like you need to be a Patreon. I don´t expect that at all. Florals with Marie on Patreon is not for everyone and I know that. However, I am so happy I am there. It´s giving me a push towards becoming self-employed while building up my wedding floristry portfolio. I think that’s a good thing.
Right, I´m getting myself a new cuppa and a little chocolate before it´s time to create this week’s florals.
Hey, lovelies! I often find myself scrolling on a webshop from a big flower supplier. It´s my guilty pleasure, my window shopping time. Yes, sounds weird but I absolutely love it! So, I thought I´d actually share my absolute favourites with you. All these beauties are fromHoek flowers who are kind enough to have an open portal to their webshop. All photos are also borrowed from their webshop! I figured they wouldn´t mind as I´m pretty much advertising their flowers out of pure joy. If you see a special flower or greenery that you love, then I hope you feel inspired to either grow it yourself or, mabey you want to ask your local florist to order them in for you. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this little glance of heaven. Let me know if you like this post and if you would like to see more of them. I sure don´t mind scrolling at floral beauties. Hehe
As you can see, I love texture, greens and spikes of colours. Anything that looks slightly wild-grown is also a winner. Is there anything special you like? Let me know!
