Hey, lovelies! I often find myself scrolling on a webshop from a big flower supplier. It´s my guilty pleasure, my window shopping time. Yes, sounds weird but I absolutely love it! So, I thought I´d actually share my absolute favourites with you. All these beauties are fromHoek flowers who are kind enough to have an open portal to their webshop. All photos are also borrowed from their webshop! I figured they wouldn´t mind as I´m pretty much advertising their flowers out of pure joy. If you see a special flower or greenery that you love, then I hope you feel inspired to either grow it yourself or, mabey you want to ask your local florist to order them in for you. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this little glance of heaven. Let me know if you like this post and if you would like to see more of them. I sure don´t mind scrolling at floral beauties. Hehe
As you can see, I love texture, greens and spikes of colours. Anything that looks slightly wild-grown is also a winner. Is there anything special you like? Let me know!
I absolutely love these colours, the texture and the dropey look. It´s very me and very feminine.
Anyways. How are you? We had a bbq last night which was really lovely. I had 3 beers and I think my head is punishing me for it today. I can´t say that the sanding downstairs helps much either. They are doing the dining room floorboards today which is right below my bedroom. Hah. Oh well, it will look good in the end. I´m doing my floral video during lunch hour today, which will be great. Got more peonies to play with this time (coral ones), so I´m a little bit excited.
Otherwise, everything is fine. Just fine. I´m doing my best to run 2-3 times per week. I only go in the evenings when it´s a bit cooler. Somehow the pollen doesn’t seem so intruding then. I´m also doing a life “assessment” with myself. If you´ve been reading my blog for over a year, you will know that I did a Goddess workshop at Lalande with Stephanie, Gillian and Donna a year ago. If you want to read it you can click here. If you feel like you need some goddess training too, you can find the links to the spreadsheets that we used. I´m actually going to do it again, just to see how far I have come with myself, my dreams and my goals. Let me know if you try it too.
This weeks flowers was delivered by The flower hut, which is my local flower shop here in Bury. I absolutely love the green palette, so wild and rustic, don´t you think?
Today´s been an incredibly warm day, I only left the house when it started to get dark. Heavens, I think I´ll need a couple of days to adapt to this heat. Well, I did manage to go for a walk, which was super lovely. I found flowers too and I´m wondering what to do with them. Hmm.
Anyhow, just wanted to say hello (yes, again). I don´t know why, but I feel as I´m slightly on hold and that I don´t have too much to share. Mabey it is the lockdown or maybe I have some cards in my sleeve. Hehe. Well, time will tell.!
What a lovely day. I´ve had the honour of working with these beauties today, although the chrysanthemum was a bit difficult (well, not my favourite flower, but one must make do with what one has). Right, my floral tutorial for Monday is almost done, just needs a quick edit. I love how the arrangement turned out in the end and I can´t wait to upload it!
I´m going to spend my evening editing so that I can start vlogging again tomorrow. I´m making a video about what floristry equipment that I use and what you will need for yourself. I think it will be a great video for all the floral lovers out there.
Otherwise, my weekend is going to be pretty epic: I´m going to the SUPERMARKET on Saturday. Yes, I know, a real treat! Haha. I´m also going to try to bake a glutenfree cake in the microwave (wish me luck). And Sunday will be a fun celebration of Norway´s constitutional day. I feel very fortunate and proud to be Norwegian, even if I´m not there.
I received my 2nd box from Freddie’s flowers today. Loved the colour palette, I´ll be using those flowers for next weeks floral tutorial. Felt super spoilt today because I still have the flowers from last week, they keep so fresh when they stay in the basement! hehe. I´m thinking of changing the delivery to every second week or so because I don´t want too many flowers at once. I´m going to give it a little think. I´m still mixing the flowers from my harvesting.
Anyways. I did this cutie today. Loved the warm red, purple and pink combo. You can see a time-lapse video on my Instagram
It´s the 17th of May on Sunday, Norway’s constitutional day! It´s a BIG celebration every year, even during covid-time. The Norwegians seem to be planning lots of home celebrations this year, which is so nice to see. I´m going to dress up and play the national anthem all day. I´m also baking (microwave style) and planning a Champagne brunch for me and Gillian. Can´t wait for the day when I get to dress up my own dining table with a linen tablecloth, candles, lots of Norwegian flags, flowers and my favourite porcelain. I´ve been wanting to collect porcelain from Royal Copenhagen for years, but I have always moved around and never felt like the time was right! However, I feel like I need to start soon, I´m almost 30. Heavens. Anyways, there is no dining table in the house yet, so I´m going to use a cardboard box which used to contain our new toilet! Haha. All good fun when living in a renovation project.
I´m so happy these days, and present in everything that’s happening. All my focus goes to our Lalande life at the moment, and I love that. I just have 1 month left here before I´m flying to Stansted, where Gillian will pick me up and take me to Suffolk. Yay! The last week and a half have been time-consuming. Lots of preparations, cleaning, planning and so on. Last night we had a wedding who turned out to be more magical then I expected it to be. The attention to detail was utterly perfect and It made me want to work more with weddings in the future. Fingers crossed.
Been busy in the floristry studio
I feel like everything is going the way I want it to. I´m healthier then I´ve ever been before and that makes me so proud. I´ve been a vegeterian for half a year now and I couldn´t be happier. My weekly runs are getting better and better. I can run without music and just get lost in my thoughts, but I can also run with a good podcast. Love both. I´ve also noticed that my emotions are more in harmony after I started doing meditation in the mornings. I always start with thinking about what I´m grateful for and that gives me so much meaning to my everyday life. I also visualize my goals and my future plans as I´ve already achieved them. The mindset makes me so focused and excited to go out and take action. My inspiration to start meditating comes from a podcast I listened to recentley, featuring Dr Joe Dispenza. He is a neuroscientist who thinks that everyone can heal their body through your mind. I find the theory incredibly fascinating. You can check his website out here.
From last night´s party. During the day the sun was really warm and I managed to get a mild sunburn. You should see my ridiculous tan, I´m super tanned from the waist and up, and pale white from the bottom and down. Haha! Towards the night the air got cold and we all had to put on extra clothes. Reminded me of those Norwegian summer nights in my childhood.
The chateau is filled with flowers and silence this afternoon, and I believe the Lalanders are happy with a relaxed Thursday. The last couple of days have been hectic, to say the least, but in the right way. We have been doing various renovation work while also having the loveliest B&B-guests dining with us. Oh, and did I mention the camera crew who´ve been following us around for the last couple of days? I´m afraid I can´t tell you anything specific, but I do hope you all will be watching when the episodes come out.
SALAD FROM THE GARDEN
I absolutely love that we can go out to the greenhouse and get vegetables for our dinners. I made a feisty salad for one of the dinners, lettuce and radish from the greenhouse. Then red onions, garlic, parsley, coriander, squash, peppers and loads of oranges. The dressing was a classic honey and mustard combo. So yummy.
LOVE MY NEW ROBE
While we were filming, I had to drop off Mike and Pauline (two of our B&B guests) to their private aeroplane. The couple lives in the middle of the UK and was on holiday, visiting France. They are on a round trip, visiting a few of the chateaus in the series (Escape to the Chateau DIY). Seems like a dream to be able to fly around wherever you like. You can watch their goodbye on my Instagram story, click here.
We´ve been eating in the entrance hall for the last couple of days, the room fits more people than our kitchen table. I love the white open space, and especially the window view from both sides.
Flowers from the garden, love the purple palettes from the iris and lilac
Roses from the garden, they smell so heavenly
Things are finally getting back to normal here, filming days have their way of turning things upside down. Haha! The next couple of weeks we are busy with new guests, and a few whole rentals. We have a few workawayers leaving and also some new coming. June and July will be more hectic, we have lots of bookings while also having our workshops in July. There are also a few weddings here too, I really hope that I get to do some bridal flowers. Haha. The joys I get from living in this house is a true blessing.

It´s been a few busy days here at Lalande, but we are finally back to normal. Stephanie and I have finally started sharing a calendar (my biggest joy this month), and there are busy times ahead. We are getting more and more bookings, and it´s all a bit overwhelming, but in the right way.
I went on a little flower hunt this afternoon, I really wanted some flowers for my self this time. Flowers for my birthday! YAY! My birthday is tomorrow, and it´s my 28th! I feel slightly frightened about getting closer to 30, but also incredibly grateful too. I love getting older, somehow it´s so reassuring. Getting older also means more wisdom and life experience. More certainty. Getting older also makes me feel safer, even if I still don´t have a proper job yet. Even if I still have study loans to pay off. Even if I haven’t found my haven. But what I do know is what I want. It’s so clear to me now, and it´s filled with passion.
A trip around the chateau forest
Yesterday I listened to another episode of “The school of greatness” with Lewis Howes, starring Dean Graziosi. I absolutely loved the episode, and something that really came to heart was the conversation about the “7 Levels deep”. Basically, it´s all about discovering why you really want to become what you want to become in life. Why you have the goals that you have. Try this link, it´s a website that allows you to do the exercise. While I was listening to the episode and the conversation that Dean and Lewis were having I just started realising my inner truths about why I want the things that I want. What drives me to move towards my dreams. It made me cry, and it still does when I think about it, and it´s far to complicated to tell you all now, but it reminded me of the little girl I once used to be. The little girl who saw her father drunk too many times, a father who was picked up by the police far to much. The little girl who wanted more then what her family could ever give her. So, with a lot of love and ambition, I know now why I want the things that I want. I want to aim high and be successful in every way that I can so I can save that little girl. The little girl is me, but also children who needs help. One day I want to study pedology, and I want to create a sanctuary for kids in need. That being a children home or a school, who knows what the future beholds. The only thing I know is that I want to save children.
My dearest Ruby
Right, enough deep stuff. David is back at Lalande, and he is cooking tonight. YAY. There is dinner, lots of cheese and hopefully a cocktail or two. I´m staying up late!
It´s looking so warm and bloomy in the chateau now, decorations are coming along. The house is almost full, and the last guests will arrive tonight. I love having lots of people around the chateau, it´s a lovely feeling. Since we have a Superhero theme party this year, everyone has to come as a superhero or a supervillain tonight. We also started a game last night, i think it´s similar to “Vampires and Villagers”. It´s a game about staying alive (i think..), and so far I haven´t been killed. Haha! I´ll keep you all updated.
Here are a few pictures of the house right now:
We wanted the Grand Salon to look like a magical galaxy where only superheroes live. The Winter Salon will be the dark planet who are hosting all the supervillains. Stephanie ordered a lot of wisteria from Amazon, and they are now hanging in the beams in the Grand Salon. I usually have no great interest in using fake flowers (being a florist), but these do look pretty amazing. I can´t wait for the big party tonight.
The entrance hall
I made a few flower arrangments yesterday, and I just love the colour palettes. Bluebells, lilac and greens. I found a lot of empty glass bottles and old jars lying around. After washing them and filling them with cold water, they were ready to be used. I love re-using stuff. It´s so heavenly to have such a big collection of vases in the house. Thank you, Stephanie!
A cup of tea and loud music while making the arrangments is essential
The two big tables are now covered with white linen tablecloths, and it´s almost looking a bit summerly in the entrance hall. Tonight we will have a 3-course meal served by Dana and Jodi. I´m so excited, especially about the chocolate dipped strawberries we´re having for dessert. Yummy!

I´m not much of a cat person, but Ruby has become very special to me. It´s now come to a point where I prefer to have him around when I walk around the garden. My favourite has become our “hangout” spot in the greenhouse. While Ruby steps on our herbs I water the perennials. Teamwork ey?
Ruby follows me everywhere, even into the chateau forest
into the floristry workshop
I absolutely love wild and messy flower arrangements, and especially if they are without “proper” flowers, haha. I guess I´m a bohemian romantic when it comes to floral styles. Lots of greens, different textures and smooth colours. Flower arrangments from the garden are my favourites. It´s like going on a treasure hunt every time, you never know what you will find.
Yesterday, I set up a floristry workshop in one of the outbuildings. Walton, one of the previous workawayers from last year, cleared this room! He did a fantastic job. Now it´s almost empty, and it´s a perfect place to arrange flowers. I think Stephanie has plans to turn the room into a summer kitchen, a brilliant idea, especially since the bread oven room is just next door. While I was making the flower arrangement, I also made a video of it. I plan to do regular short videos on Instagram Tv, so if you’re interested in seeing another angle on the life and the surroundings at Lalande, stay tuned on my Instagram! Link here.
I´ve placed the flower arrangement in the Grand Salon, the colours in the room are warm and soft, but there is also vibrant colours too. The walls are decorated with Stephanie’s father’s paintings, and they really give the house an uplifting vibe. I think today’s flower arrangement was a good fit for the room.
I hope you all have a good day! It´s not warm today at Lalande, but next week will be warmer. We have two helpful workawayers at the moment who is doing appreciating work around the grounds. Osman is doing some light renovation work, while Heather is weeding in the greenhouse. I love people who weed! Haha! Right, I need to rock away to the laundry room. We have B&B guests coming this weekend, so I better get busy! Later today I will pick up my best friend, Joanna from Norway, who is visiting me for a few days. Can’t wait to see her again. I think I might cry when I see her, friends and family are everything. Never let go of the people you love.
I just love spring, even if it makes my eyes itchy and my body feverish. Spring means a new start for everything! There are so many beautiful greens and florals that makes my florist heart jump. Spring also means it´s soon my birthday! Woho! I´m turning 28 and I´m hoping the weather will be warm, it would be amazing to have a birthday-dinner outside.
Right now, I´m waiting for Gillian to arrive, she is driving from Limoges airport. She haven´t driven a car for 7 years (apparently) and I´m hoping she will arrive in one piece! Haha. While waiting, I´ve been trying to resize a vintage dress that I just bought. Easier said than done! I do wish I had my great grandmother here to help me. She was a heartwarming woman and an utter perfectionist with the sewing machine. I´m imagining her looking down on me now, just laughing and rolling her eyes. She spent all her life making clothes for other people. I wish I asked her to teach me her skills.
Ruby is always following me when I´m outside, he is so sweet
In the orchard
Harvesting a few branches for the kitchen table
I hope you all have a beautiful day. It´s a bloomy day here at Chateau de la lande. Our vegetable garden is already in motion. With help from Marie Poupins (our help, and her real name), we already have managed to plant salads, tomatoes, strawberries, blue potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, beets and more. I even planted the 2 peony roots into beds. In the kitchen, I´ve sown 3 large pots with basil and coriander. They are already starting to grow.
One of the most beautiful people I´ve gotten to know here in Lofoten is Tiril. I´m so lucky to be able to call her my friend. Tiril found love with Stian and they decided to get married. They flew away to Svalbard and didn´t tell anyone about it, before we knew it they where married. I made this bridal bouquet for her before they left. I love the idea of flying away with a bridal bouquet in your hand. Should be a thing (or maybe it already is..)
the bridal bouquet
The bouquet consisted of something that I bought, but also something that I picked around Lofoten. Astilbe, Hydrangea, asparagus, papaver, scabiosa (from my own garden), eucalyptus etc. The expression was wild and messy with a hint of feminine touches.
Buketten bestod av litt kjøpt og litt plukket. Astilbe, hortensia, aspargasus, papaver, scabiosa(egendyrket), pioner, eucalyptus og litt til. Utrykket ble vilt og rufsete med et hint av feminine toner.
