4 months in France

Hello lovelies! It´s time for a new blog post. If you follow me on Instagram (mariewiik1), you will know that I have decided to get back to blogging again. Yay!.. So, every Thursday I´ll write a blog post. I hope to write more in the future, but I´ll start easy and see how I go.

Anyway, how are you? Some people say that blogging belongs to the past, but I must disagree. I really love reading blogs and I have a few favourites that I visit almost every day. Mabey it´s a generation thing. I really like following other people´s life´s and getting a special insight in what they are up to and what their life is like. I´ve been following a few Scandinavian bloggers for almost 10 years and some of us are at the same age and I really like that.

Well, enough about that. I´m currently sitting in my studio and I look like an eskimo. I have blankets, scarfs and a warm hat on. The oil heater is on and I´ve lit a scented candle. I really love my studio space and I don´t mind the cold. I feel so free and peaceful here. I can´t believe I´ve been at Lalande for 4 months already. Time goes by so fast.

Workwise, everything is going in the right direction, slowly but steady. I´m constantly learning new skills while I continue to create florals, videos and taking photos. Everything I earn goes back to investing in equipment or flowers. There is hardly any money for my personal life, but hay, we´re in a lockdown, hehe. Becoming self-employed this year have been such an emotional rollercoaster but I wouldn´t want it any other way. I am so happy I quit my job and came to France.

Right, I´m going to film and upload another video for @withmariewiik and I´m also cooking tonight. I think I´m making chili or pita. Not sure yet. Anyho, have a lovely weekend xx

Ps: If youré new to my blog and Instagram and you have some questions, check out my previous Q&A´s on my Instagram. I´ve answered a lot of questions there. Link here

  2. Bonjour Marie,

Soooooo happy that you decided to continue with your blog. Curiously, I haven’t checked your blog in several months until today.
And voilà! A new post! What a coincidence! I actually don’t believe in coincidences… I must have been in synch with your subconscious…
I’m glad that I am able to see you often in Stephanie’s vlog. I hope that you will be able to generate an income out of your beautiful flower arrangements pretty soon.
Lets hope that the vaccines for Covid 19 are efficient so that the World goes back to business as usual. XOXO Josée du Québec

  3. I had wondered if there was a microwave at La Lande. It is such a helpful thing. I also have a few genealogy blogs and love to read blogs. I’ve taken a long break from mine. It brought out the chance to share and express myself.
    I do enjoy your pictures.

I will take the time here to say I admire your personal journey. I saw some of your verbal blogs.and then I have been hunting for your floral ones. and I found this blog.

My daughter went through some of what you found in school. Her’s was in elementry school and it followed her through liife. I agree it does seem to give one power later in life. Later , we found adhd issues. But there was other things involved. But the bullying and avoidance sets one’s confidence and patterns for life. i took her for counseling, when she was young. She was a stubborn thing. Which didnt always help then, but was a good trait to have for life arrows that dart at one along the path of livng ones life.

I couldnt help her much cause I myself had problems in middle school and high school fitting in. i also grew up on a farm and my playmates were far in between later on with schooling in the town. My parents were busy all the time. My ‘self ‘was my playmate Like you in the woods. I would walk the paths made by the sheep. I would make little house areas. etc. Later on, I would take walks in the woods and maybe it was boredom, but i would always wish I could enhance the paths. To make them pretty. Of course now, I realize that if i had planted seeds or plants the sheep would have ate them down. Years later when the sheep were moved out of the fenced wood area, and years after that, I saw how much the woods was overgrown with weed growth. There never was any flowers there, not even wild ones, one often sees in woods. There was beauty in the trees and the green, but we know flowers enhance everything.

I dream sometimes of how I might have planted my wood paths. Now, i have made my own woods area. I havent always been able to afford flowers to plant. I have taken time to plant some seeds and other plants too…. I have made my own little secret woods garden. It is wonderful to have your own bit of land… I have got quite a patch of blue squill in my secret wood area surrounded by yellow Lamium. [the flower reminds me of lupine which i want to grow as well] And now I battle Deer, Squirrels and Rabbits because they all want their share. I have to destroy the beauty by fencing them, out because I am no Snow White, lover of those little thieves. I am a Mrs Macgregor of Beatrice Potters novels.

I am surprised you havent gone into garden design. Just floristry. I admit I started gardening so i could have a little bit of daisy, poppies, roses irises lilacs etc. Hydrangea and other flowers to bring indoors. [Do Urge Stephanie to plant some Hydrangea about.] Often though, I cant bring myself to cut them off to bring in… But i hope to expand the cutting garden.

I look forward to learning more of your life as you work and blog, vlog along.
    take care
