Today, we are expecting a couple for a one night stay at Lalande. They asked for a bottle of Champagne and dinner, which they will of course have. It´s always a joy to compose a 3-course meal for our guests, I can’t wait to use the vegetables from our garden. If you enjoy cooking like me, you would love cooking at Lalande.
Today’s guests are staying in the so-called “honeymoon” suite, the room is called Bonne Maman, and this is a bright, spacious and stunning room. “Bonne Maman” means grandmother in French and this was the bedroom belonging to the Marquise. This room is located in the 15th-century wing of the chateau.
Here are a few pictures of the room:
I arranged some quick flowers for the guest’s bedroom today. I don´t always get the chance to do it every day, but I do try as often as I can. I´m over the moon thrilled about the early spring here at Lalande, every trip to the garden is like a treasure hunt. Love spring.
The suite bathroom, the wallpaper is by Lewis & Wood. There is a separate shower and an original art deco cast iron bath.

I adore this 50s dressing table, bought by Stephanie on an auction in London.
The bed and the bedside tables in the suite also used to belong to the Marquise
The wall fabric and curtains are silk from Sudbury Silk Factories in England.
champagne and flowers
Well, I better head to the kitchen and start preparing tonights dinner. I think I will do a sensual clementine carpaccio with a fresh mint sauce as a starter. The main course will be a honey roasted chicken with a creamy butter sauce and blue potatoes. For dessert, I will be a cheezy romantic and serve strawberries dipped in chocolate. Easy peasy but delish!
I hope you all have a great afternoon.
